About the Course
The Certificate II in Indigenous Leadership is an introductory qualification in Indigenous Leadership that is intensively delivered in a blended style of learning to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:
- Apply a small number of leadership styles to a range of different situations and contexts
- Become familiar with one’s own personal strengths and capabilities to make space for further personal development
- Be provided with the opportunity to apply leadership skills in professional and non-professional contexts
- Learn about working effectively in teams and other productive working relationships
- Understand and develop their own leadership vision and values
- Build leadership skills and knowledge
- Build own personal and public confidence
Course Delivery Structure:
- 8 months maximum
- 8 units
- 132 hours of face to face training (this may be via video conferencing in compliance with COVID-19 safety requirements)
- 185 hours of self-paced learning
- Blended delivery model, small group activities
- One on one weekly session with Program Leader

Enrolment Process
To enrol you must have or register for a USI (Unique Student Identifier). For more information about the USI, please Click Here, If your enrolment application is successful, you will receive another link to your Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. The LLN assessment is required so that the AILC can provide you with the appropriate assistance throughout the course.
Course Accreditation
Students who successfully complete this course and are deemed competent in all the required units will received a Nationally Recognised qualification.RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and/or Credit Transfer
If you would like to apply for RPL or believe you are eligible for a Credit Transfer, please send an email request to enrolments@ailc.org.au, at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.
Leading the Way Scholarships
"Leading the Way" is a scholarship program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The scholarship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants over 18 years and is offered nationally.
The Certificate II include 8 Units of Competency respectively. Courses are delivered in Blocks (3 consecutive days) over three months. The Blocks cover the practical activities and theory of leadership. Courses will be delivered online in a virtual classroom. Remaining assessment requirements are to be completed outside of the Blocks, in the student's own time.
