About the Course

The 52880WA Certificate IV in Leadership and Mentoring is designed to develop the leadership and mentoring skills of people who work with and/or support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This course is for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who are in a position to provide mentoring to an Indigenous colleague, a team of Indigenous employees, or community members. Students will consider cultural sensitivities, cultural values and protocols, communication methods, roles and responsibilities, building relationships, planning, and goal setting.

This accredited course assists students by improving their confidence in seeking and taking on a range of leadership and mentoring opportunities in a culturally appropriate and safe learning environment.

Course Delivery Structure 

  • 12 months maximum duration
  • 8 Units
  • 132 hours of face-to-face training (this may be via video conferencing in compliance with COVID-19 safety requirements)
  • 185 hours of self-paced learning
  • Blended delivery model, small group activities
  • One-on-one weekly session with the Program Leader

If your enrolment application is successful, you will receive another link to your Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.  The LLN assessment is required so that the AILC can provide you with the appropriate assistance throughout the course.

Course Accreditation

Students who successfully complete this course and are deemed competent in all the required units will receive a Nationally Recognised qualification.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and/or Credit Transfer
